Poker - Hall of fameT.J.Cloutier
T. J. is one of the last of the legendary road gamblers whose numbers are, unfortunately, dwindling each year. He brings a wealth of experience, card skill, and natural ability to every game that he plays. But more importantly, he always brings along his knowledge of the thousands of players that he has faced head up in the 21 years that he has made his living as a professional poker player.
In 1978, T. J. made his first trip to the World Series of Poker, although he didn't play in the championship tournament until 1983 (the year that Tom McEvoy won it). But the third year that he played for the World Championship (in 1985), he finished second to Bill Smith, with Berry Johnston taking third.
Phil Hellmuth
Winner of the World Series of Poker at age 24,he has 6 WSOP Bracelets, including the 1989 WSOP No Limit Hold'em Main event, so far. Originally from Madison, Wis., he 'found' a poker game while he was a student at the University of Wisconsin. Today, most poker players consider him the #1 poker tournament player in the world. He has won more money than anyone else has in poker tournaments in the last ten years.
Miami John Cernuto
Miami once claimed his nick name brings him luck, because after he took on the name he entered the 1988 Superbowl of Poker and won his first big pot and the seven-card-stud title. It seems as though he was right (although we believe a fair amount of skill was involved too) and has continued to rise in stature in the poker scene.
This year alone (2003) he has won the Heads Up Poker Tournament in Vienna, beat 381 players at the L.A. Poker Classic in Event #5 at No Limit Hold'em - winning the tournament and over $70,000, he won $23,000 in event #17 at the Legends of Poker, and placed fourth in the Limit 7-Card Stud Championship in the United States Poker Championship at Trump Taj Mahal.
Johnny Chan
Rising to international recognition with his WSOP main event victory in 1987, and again in 1988, Johnny Chan continues to be one of the most recognized names in poker. The movie Rounders immortalized him forever as it featured Matt Damon studying a video of him winning the WSOP.
Doyle Brunson
Also called "Texas Dolly", this 2 Time World Champion was born in 1933 and hopes to play poker till he's 80. This Hall of Famer started playing in college and loves Hold'em. He resides in Las Vegas and is also a part of the Seniors of Poker Hall of Fame and Casino Legends Hall of Fame. He has 6 WSOP bracelets.
