Poker History

Poker is considered to be the brainchild of the Chinese. The game was basically played using coins. The game involved betting and was played using coins. These coins were called dominoes. The game then was thoroughly enjoyed by one and all. There is another group of historians who believe that Poker was a Persian gift to the world. The game was then called Nas. Nas was played using 5 cards. These cards were further categorized into 5 suits.

Primero, which means primera in Spanish was a game that was introduced on the lines of Poker. Primero which is regarded as Poker's modern day ancestor had hands valued in the following manner.

Chorus: Four of a kind (e.g., four sixes)

Fluxus: Four cards of the same suit, equivalent to a poker flush (e.g., 2, 4, A, and 6 of hearts)

Supremus: Ace, 6, and 7 of the same suit (e.g., A, 6, 7 of spaces, 3 of diamonds).

Primero: One card of each suit (e.g., 3 of hearts, 5 of diamonds, K of spades, 7 of clubs)

Numerus: Two or three cards of the same suit. This is by far the most common hand (e.g., Q, 4, 6 of clubs, and 4 of spaces).

There was a lot of trouble faced by the gamblers in Nevada in making gambling legal. Gambling wasn't legal in Nevada till 1910. It was a great rage in Nevada. After a lot of grappling and fighting with the idea, gambling was finally legalized in the year 1931.
